Slavko Milekic's Museum Installations for Kids

    print version

Dr. Slavko Milekic, professor in the Art Education department at the University of the Arts, set out to make a difference and assist several museums with creating child-friendly programs. The "no touching" policies at the Speed Art Museum in Kentucky, Phoenix Art Museum and Avampato Discovery Museum in West Virginia changed to "please touch" with the introduction of Milekics large scale interactive touch-screen installations.

Milekic holds a medical degree from the Belgrade School of Medicine and a Ph.D. in experimental psychology from the University of Connecticut. He frequently leads workshops on the educational uses of technology and human/computer interface design. He has been engaged as a consultant for the development of digital tools for art education by a number of institutions, including the Philadelphia Museum of Art, Dallas Museum of Art, Please Touch Museum, Phoenix Art Museum and Cleveland Museum of Art.

Milekic's interactive children's exhibits like this make museums more memorable and fun for kids.
