De Angela Duff: Cultural Photography

An assistant professor in the multimedia department in the College of Media and Communication, De Angela Duff's job is to be versatile. With a B.S. in textile engineering, a BFA in graphic design and an MFA in photography, she's certainly acquired a wide range of skills. De has worked in:

  • Motion Graphics (e-cards, Web site trailers)
  • DVD
  • Print

While working at New York City's Nettmedia, where she moved up from Senior Designer to Art Director, her work focused on the entertainment, sports and arts industries. She did work for clients such as:

  • Atlantic Records
  • Rolling Stone Radio
  • Miramax Films
  • Motown Records
  • Museum of Modern Art
  • New York Yankees
A native of Eutaw, Ala., DeAngela's design and development research currently focus on the creation and facilitation of digital interfaces in increasing communication and knowledge. Her current body of photography work at photo.polishedsolid.com captures people in passage, ordinary people negotiating public and familial spaces, juxtaposed and contextualized within a rural, southern environment.
Africa or Alabama? In many of De's photos, the cultures of Alabama and Africa seem to be one.
